What it is
A list of competitor games with notes on what they do well, what they fail at, and where your game differs. The first page of any pitch deck draws from this analysis.
When to use it
- Writing the "competitive landscape" slide for a publisher pitch.
- Identifying which features are table-stakes vs. genuinely novel.
- Justifying scope decisions by reference to comparable titles' scope.
- Spotting a market gap before you commit to a direction.
How to use it
- 1Click "+ Add Competitor" — game title, studio, platforms.
- 2Note strengths (what they do well) and weaknesses (where they fall short).
- 3Write your differentiation — explicit, falsifiable claims.
- 4Cite sales numbers / review aggregates where you have them.
Tips you should know
- →Be honest in differentiation — "ours is better" without specifics is a red flag for publishers.
- →Five to ten competitors is the sweet spot for a pitch deck.
- →Update post-release: which competitors are doing what now? Drift-check your positioning.
- →Market analysis is included in Pitch Maker exports if the Publishing section is enabled.
